  • LeBreton Flats: Ottawa and Ontario Chambers of Commerce Support Local Bid

    OTTAWA, January 27, 2016: Following Tuesday’s National Capital Commission (NCC) public presentation on the re-development of LeBreton Flats, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce expressed its confidence in the evaluation process and the quality of the competing bids. 
     
    After careful analysis and based on the comprehensive presentations made by the two proponents, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce identified the RendezVous LeBreton Group proposal as the most viable and likely to be realized. 
     
    The RendezVous LeBreton Group have demonstrated their vision and articulated a strong plan that brings together leading entertainment, residential, commercial, and retail development companies with an urban development approach that is world class.  
     
    “For the Ottawa business community the RendezVous LeBreton proposal delivers significant economic and wealth creation opportunities while establishing a sustainable engine of growth for Ottawa into the future” said Ian Faris, President & CEO, Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. “The transit-focussed approach to this multi-billion dollar comprehensive development is to be commended, given the significant investment by all three levels of government in the Confederation and Trillium LRT lines”.
     
    “Re-imagining a major metropolitan area, like Ottawa, takes a visionary effort backed by significant financial resources and development expertise” said Allan O’Dette, President & CEO, Ontario Chamber of Commerce”. “Leveraging the talent and know-how of Ottawa Senators Sports & Entertainment with Trinity Developments and the other major development and service partners, the RendezVous LeBreton Group have created a ‘wow-factor’ that is sure to captivate local and international interest in the Capital”. 
     
    The Ottawa Chamber and Ontario Chamber Presidents identified the benefits to the Ottawa and Ontario economies, in terms of talent attraction and retention, international investment attraction, and tourism potential that will flow from the RendezVous LeBreton project.   
     
    Both Chambers of Commerce expressed confidence that the LeBreton Flats re-development is on the right track in making Ottawa one of the most innovative places to visit, live and do business in North America.
